Two women find themselves standing next to each other in heaven, and recognize each other immediately as long time friends and neighbors in their former lives…

“You seemed so healthy, how on earth did you die?” asked the one to the other.

“I froze to death”

“Oh dear! that sounds horrible!”

“It wasn’t so bad, as the end drew near I felt a sudden warmth inside me, and I just drifted off to sleep.”

“Well I guess that’s not so bad.”

“No, I guess not, and yourself? how do you find yourself to be here?”

“I had a massive heart attack…”

And without so much as a pause, the woman’s face grew a bit darker as she told the woman next to her the story of her long suspicions of her husband cheating on her, culminating with her one day sneaking home from work hours early and brashly running into her home to find her husband with the most surprised look on his face, sitting in front of the TV.

She continued her story: “I just knew something was going on, so I began storming through my house. Up the stairs to our room, down into our basement, through all the washrooms. I crawled on my hands and knees to peer under the bed, I climbed up ladders to look into our attic. As my search became more and more furious, confident I had finally caught him in the act, I felt a sharp pain in my chest, which brought me here.”

Her eyes wide open at hearing such a story, the second woman let her neighbor finish and calm down, clearly re-agitated at retelling it. Satisfied that her nerves had calmed, she said in an almost begrudging tone:

“If only you had thought to look in the freezer, neither of us would be here.”
